Castor oil’s texture is thick, which is why I recommend pairing it with a carrier oil. I often use coconut oil, almond oil, and essential oils to boost my castor oil recipes.

My Warning About Using Castor Oil

While castor oil may help alleviate soreness, joint pain, and may disinfect and cleanse, and so much more, I do not recommend using it internally. Nor do I recommend it to induce labor or use as a laxative.

Reason being the oil is rich in ricin seed toxic (therefore hands off the plant!) and an overdose can cause severe stomach upset and might even lead to ricin poisoning. Do not take this oil internally, please!

Which Castor Oil to Use?

There are many brands out there selling castor oil. But not of them are created equal! Make sure to pay attention when shopping to avoid scams, overpriced bottles, and poor-quality oils.

Either for my beauty or health, I always use organic castor oil.

You can find more of my recommendations on which castor oil to buy in my guide on where to buy castor oil.
