Castor oil uses: the story of a magical and powerful oil

Castor oil is a natural remedy for your beauty and health. It has been used by man for centuries. Its rich and unique composition makes it one of the most mysterious oils…

A timeless remedy

  • 16th century BC: Castor oil is mentioned in Ebers Papyrus (one of the oldest scrolls)
  • 4000 BC: Traces found in Egyptian tombs
  •  2000 BC: Traces in ancient India
  • Other traces around the world: Greece (Herodotus), ancient China…

Origin and fabrication

Castor plant

  • A tropical flowering plant
  • Produces a toxic seed

The oil

The oil is extracted from the castor beans without using heat or any chemicals. This process eliminates any remaining toxins.

Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid. This unique acid is the key ingredient that makes castor oil so powerful.

Castor Oil Uses and Virtues

What is castor oil used for?

Beauty

Apply as a mask or massage

Health

Apply as a massage or pack

  • Digestion
  • Immune system
  • Joints

Tip: mix castor oil (thick) with another vegetable oil as this makes it easier to apply and increases its efficiency. My recommendation (is coconut oil).

Is castor oil safe to drink?

The ricinoleic acid contained in castor oil is a very powerful laxative. This acid affects the intestinal mucosa and provokes violent diarrhea. It is strongly advised not to ingest castor oil, even if you feel symptoms of constipation.

Other solutions (less violent) should be employed, such as castor oil pack applications. As for pregnant women who would like to induce labor, know that castor oil has no such power. Your baby will not be delivered faster and it could put you and your baby at risk. We highly recommend not drinking castor oil for safety purposes.

Castor oil uses: final thoughts

When using a specific product, remember that you should always listen to your body. Castor oil is a wonderful remedy for a lot of problems we may encounter. As for anything, it does take some time to reach significant effects.

However, depending on your expectations, castor oil can act as fast as the 1st application. This is in general very encouraging and pushes you to persevere in your efforts for a more natural life.
